About Adoption

Adoption is a tale of a long journey, or so it seems to us.  Maybe our story is pretty typical.  Or perhaps wholly unique?  Probably somewhere in between…although someone else can be the judge of that.

There is a story involved in how we got here; how thought became desire,  how desire became intent, and how intent became action.  It seems like the journey will continue for the rest of our lives.  The tale of Adoption reads like part mystery, part drama, part comedy, and part redemption story.  For us, it’s also a journey of Love and Loss, of Fear and most certainly Faith.

Adoption is more than a pursuit of a child.  It is more than attempts to complete a family.  It is more than a salve for the wounds of infertility.  It is more than lofty, noble intent…more than desperate longing.

Adoption is about a loving God, pursuing and ultimately redeeming.  It is, more than anything, theology…because adoption tells us something profound and beautiful about God and how He sees us.

  1. Hi Dennis and Carita! We are John and Sheila, an Asian hopeful adoptive couple from Michigan. Our story on how we came to our adoption journey is somewhat like yours. We are still waiting to hear how our story continues. If at all possible, would we be able have contact info for Ted, the California Attorney? Maybe he might have another client where we could be the kind of family a birthmother is looking for. While we have done much networking ourselves, we are constantly exploring other avenues to make our dreams come true. Thank you for such an encouraging adoption story!

    Warmest regards,
    John and Sheila

  2. Hi John & Sheila,

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We are praying for you and all the other families who are trusting God with their prayers for children. We know how extremely difficult the wait can be, and we want to make ourselves available to offer whatever help we can give. Please shoot me a quick email at caritachen@gmail.com, and I’ll send you further information for Ted. We look forward to getting to know you both through sharing our stories together. I just read your profile online and feel we’d be good friends if we were in the same city. 🙂 I look forward to hearing more from you all soon!

    Many Blessings,

  3. Your faith and story is so touching. Is there any way that you could share your religion? I loved how you described your relationship with God and it’s how I’ve always prayed and thought of him. Thanks in Advance.
